Runningaconsistencycheck
ThistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtorunaconsistencycheckforvirtualdrivesusingtheLSISoftware
RAIDCongurationUtilityprogram.
AconsistencycheckisanoperationthatveriesthatallstripesonavirtualdrivewitharedundantRAID
levelareconsistent.Theconsistencycheckoperationveriescorrectnessofthedataonvirtualdrivesthat
useRAID1,5,and10(RAID0doesnotprovidedataredundancy).Forexample,inasystemwithparity,
checkingconsistencymeanscomputingthedataononedriveandcomparingtheresultstothecontentsof
theparitydrive.
Youshouldrunaconsistencycheckonfault-tolerantvirtualdrivesperiodically.Itisrecommendedthatyou
runaconsistencycheckatleastonceamonth.Youmustrunaconsistencycheckifyoususpectthatthe
virtualdrivedatamightbecorrupted.Besuretobackupthedatabeforerunningaconsistencycheckifyou
suspectthedatamightbecorrupted.
