5 Maintenance
Engine
¾ Check the water pump gear (2) for wear.
¾ Place a knife edge (1) on the tooth (4) and
use a feeler gauge to establish the thinning
(3) over the length of the tooth.
If the wastage is more than 0.3 mm t
he coolant
pump together with the crankshaf
t pinion gear
and the toothed belt must be exc
hanged.

¾ Refit the engine cover.
¾ Refit the side maintenance cover.

Renew the toothed belt and idler
pulley
NOTE
Special know-how and tools are required for
the renewal of the toothed belt and idler pulley.
