For example, if Warning is selected, all severity levels that are Warning and higher are stored in
the log (Emergency, Alert, Critical, Error, and Warning). No events with severity level below
Warning are stored (Notice, Informational, and Debug).
To set global log parameters:
1.
Click Configuration > System Management > Logs > Log Management.
2.
Enter the parameters:
System Log
o
LoggingSelect to enable message logging.
o
Originator IdentifierEnables adding an origin identifier to SYSLOG
messages. The options:
o
None—Do not include the origin identifier in SYSLOG messages.
o
HostnameInclude the system hostname in SYSLOG messages.
o
IPv4 AddressInclude the IPv4 address of the sending interface
inSYSLOG messages.
o
IPv6 AddressInclude the IPv6 address of the sending interface
inSYSLOG messages.
o
User DefinedEnter a description to be included in SYSLOG messages.
Log Settings
o
SeveritySelect the severity levels of the messages to be logged to the
following:
o
RAM Memory LoggingSeverity levels of the messages to be logged to
the RAM.
o
Flash Memory LoggingSeverity levels of the messages to be logged to
the Flash memory.
3.
Click Apply. The Running Configuration file is updated.
