CHAPTER 8: OPERATION 73
TRYTON 107/112
4.3. Setting the jaws
To load shaped bars, the feeder must be fitted with the appropriate gripping jaws.
The mobile vice jaws must be adjusted to every change of diameter.
4.3.1. Procedure
• Place one or more bars of the new diameter in the barrel.
• Index the barrel to bring a bar (A) into line with the feeder collet.
• Advance (1) the connector to about half of its travel.
• Pull the bar and move it up to the collet.
• Loosen the locking knobs (B) of the upper and lower jaws of the mobile vice.
• Loosen the nuts (C) then the bolts (D) of the upper and lower jaws (E), so that they open (2).
• Draw back (3) the mobile vice (F), until the roller bearings are on the flats of the cam.
• Screw (4) the bolt (D) until the bar, resting on the lower jaw, is centred on the collet.
• Screw (5) the bolt (D) of the upper jaw until it is resting against the bar.
Tighten by an extra half-turn so that the bar is securely held between the jaws.
Ensure that the bar is still centred in the collet.
• Tighten the nuts (C).
• Tighten the bolts (B).
• Return the bar to the loading position.
• Advance the mobile vice.
• Advance the connector and check that the bar is gripped and correctly inserted into the collet.
• Then, move the connector back to check that the rod is correctly extracted.
