HEADER OPERATION – A SERIES
Form # 169017 100 Issue – June 2008
6.6.5 Knife Speed
The ideal cutting speed of the knife should be
such that a clean cut is achieved. Crop types
and conditions usually influence the knife and
forward speeds.
The tractor WCM reads a code from the header
that determines the knife speed range and the
minimum speed when the header is first
attached to the tractor. The desired speed can
be programmed on the CDM and is stored in the
WCM memory so that if the header is detached
and then re-attached to the tractor, the knife will
operate at the original set-point.
If no header code is detected, the CDM displays
NO HEADER and the knife speed reverts to a
range from 0-1400 strokes per minute and the
operator can then pre-set the speed.
