Installing the Hook Block
1. Remove the three rope retention pins (2, Figure 5-2)
from the hook block (3).
2. Attach the socket and wedge to the wire rope as shown
in Figure 5-1.
3. Thread the socket and wedge and the wire rope through
the sheaves in the boom head and the hook block.
4. See Figure 5-10 for the 4-part reeving diagram.
5. Reinstall the three rope retention pins (2, Figure 5-2) in
the hook block (3).
6. Pin the socket and wedge to the boom head Figure 5-1.
7. Lift the hook block off of the ground.
8. Be sure the wire rope is engaged in the sheave grooves
in the boom head and the hook block.
9. Be sure the rope retention pins are installed.
DOWNHAUL WEIGHT
Installing the Downhaul Weight
1. Follow the instructions at the beginning of this section to
remove the hook block. It is not necessary to remove the
socket and wedge from the wire rope.
2. Remove the rope retention pins (1, Figure 5-3) from the
downhaul weight (5).
3. Pin the socket and wedge (3) to the downhaul (5) with
pin (4).
4. Install the rope retention pins (1). Be sure the wire rope
is routed between the two pins.
5. Lift the downhaul weight off of the ground.
Removing the Downhaul Weight
1. Lower the downhaul weight to the ground.
2. Remove the rope retention pins (1, Figure 5-3) from the
downhaul weight (5).
3. Remove the pin (4).
4. Remove the socket and wedge (3) from the downhaul
weight (5).
5. Reinstall the rope retention pins (1) in the downhaul
weight (5).
