Moxa Managed Ethernet Switch (UI_2.0_FW_5.x) User Manual
Industrial Protocols
The Moxa switch supports 3 industrial protocols, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, and PROFITNET I/O. All three
protocols can be enabled or disabled by checking the appropriate checkbox. Modbus TCP is enabled by
def ault, with the other two options disabled.
NOTE
1. IGMP Snooping and IGMP Query f unctions will be enabled automatically to be properly integrated in
Rockwell systems f or multicast Implicit (I/O) Messaging f or ef f icient EtherNet/IP communication.
2. EtherNet/IP can’t be enabled while IGMP snooping is disabled due to VLAN setting.
3. The ICS-G7700A series and ICS-G7800A series only support EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP.
Diagnostics
The Moxa switch provides three important tools f or administrators to diagnose network systems: LLDP,
Ping, and Port Mirror.
LLDP
Overview
LLDP is an OSI Layer 2 protocol def ined by IEEE 802.11AB. LLDP
standardizes the self
-identif ication advertisement method, and allows
each networking device, such as a Moxa managed switch, to periodically
send its system and conf iguration inf ormation to its neighbors. Because
of this, all LLDP devices are kept inf ormed
of each other’s status and
conf iguration, and with SNMP, this inf ormation can be transf erred to
Moxa’s MXview f or auto
-topology and network visualization.
From the switch’s web interface, you can enable or disable LLDP, and set
the LLDP transmit interval.
In addition, you can view each switch’s
-list, which is reported by its network neighbors. Most
importantly, enabling the LLDP f unction allows Moxa’s MXview to
automatically display the network’s topology and system setup details,
such as VLAN and
Trunking, f or the entire network.
