Before and after servicing an Explorer
®
balance, an operational test and various performance tests
should be made to confirm if the balance meets specifications. Turn the balance on and allow it to
warm up for at least one hour before performing these tests. The Analytical models need up to 4
hours to stabilize.
NOTE:
Make sure the test area is free from drafts and that the balance rests on a level and vibration-
free surface. The Analytical models especially need a solid platform, such as a stone table.
4.1 TEST MASSES REQUIRED
The masses required to test the Ohaus Explorer
®
balances must meet the requirements of the
ASTM or OIML Tolerances listed in the table. Poor quality calibration masses be the can cause of
frustrating diagnostics.
