2.3 Command module
Mounting
Mount the command module to the drums using the support column or stand. The height can be adjusted on the
powered drum support column.
Power, data and video
When using the manual or powered drum, a single link cable supplies the command module with power, data and
video. The link cable socket is located on the back of the controller. See section 1.
Mount the controller and connect the controller cable to the controller terminal on the powered drum or external PSU.
Keyboard
The supplied keyboard is connected via the PS/2 connector in the I/O panel.
NOTE: Only the supplied keyboard is compatible with the command module.
Headset
The optional headset allows you to record and hear audio commentary in your video recordings. Connect the headset
to the audio socket in the I/O panel.
Compact Flash card
Insert a Pearpoint approved high-speed Compact Flash card into the card slot, which is located inside the I/O panel
CAUTION: Please note the orientation of the card before attempting to insert it into the controller. Although a groove
on the card will prevent you from inserting the card the wrong way, forcing this will damage the Compact Flash card
socket.

If the card does not support high-speed video recording, you will receive an error message when pressing the record
button, please contact your local Pearpoint representative for options.
USB flash drive
Insert a high-speed Pearpoint USB flash drive, (commonly known as a memory stick or thumb drive) into the USB
socket, which is located inside the I/O panel (Item 13 in Figure 1.3).
If both a CF card and a USB flash drive are present, the controller will automatically use the USB flash drive for
recording.
If the memory device does not support high-speed video recording, you will receive an error message when pressing
the record button, it may also crash the controller remove the disk, use a compatible card or contact your local
Pearpoint representative for options.
CAUTION: If the device is physically large it will prevent the rainproof seal from closing which will lead to water
ingress and expensive repairs.
2.4 External video equipment
You can connect a range of video equipment to the system using the video jacks on the command module. This can
include video recording and playback equipment or external monitors.
These devices are connected using standard composite video cable with RCA or BNC-type connectors as appropriate
(not supplied).
WARNING! Connected equipment must be earthed according the equipment manufacturer’s documentation. Failure to
comply may result in electric shock and damage to the flexitrax system.
