Warranty Information
The following i
nformation is an explanation of
maintenance items for emission-related components.
See the Operation and Maintenance Manual,
“Maintenance
Interval Schedule” (Maintenance
Section) for the specific interval for the following
items.
ENGINE AFTERTREATMENT SYSTEM – The
Engine Aftertreatment Systems are sensitive to the
type of fuel
and lubricants that is used. Also, the
engine aftertreatment systems are sensitive to the
operating schedule. Low quality fuel, lubricants, or
fluids may ca
use increases in exhaust back pressure
or clogging resulting in loss of power. An authorized
Perkins distributor/dealer can determine if the engine
aftertrea
tment systems require a service.
NOx Reduction System (NRS) – The NRS is
monitored
. An authorized Perkins distributor/dealer
can determine if the NRS needs service.
FUEL INJE
CTORS – Fuel injector tips are subject to
wear as a result of fuel contamination. This damage
can cause the following conditions: an increase in
fuel cons
umption, black smoke, misfire, and rough
running engine. The fuel injector should be inspected,
tested, and replaced, if necessary. Fuel injectors can
be teste
d by an authorized Perkins distributor/dealer .
TURBOCHARGER – Refer to this Operation and
Mainten
ance Manual, “Turbocharger - Inspect” for
information on inspection of the turbocharger.
ELECTR
ONIC ENGINE CONTROL (ECM) – The
ECM is the contro l computer of the engine. The ECM
provides power to the electronics. The ECM monitors
data t
hat is input from the sensors of the engine.
The ECM acts as a governor in order to control the
speed and the power of the engine. The ECM adjusts
injec
tion timing and fuel pressure for the best engine
performance, the best fuel economy, and the best
control of exhaust emissions.
Erratic behavior of the engine may indicate a need
for repair to the ECM. Your Perkins distributor/dealer
is eq
uipped with the necessary tools, personnel, and
procedures in order to perform this service.
The
owner is encouraged to keep adequate
maintenance records. However, the absence of such
records will not invalidate the warranty. Refer to the
Ope
ration and Maintenance Manual, “Maintenance
Log” (Reference Materials Section).
Th
e owner may perform routine maintenance,
repairs, and other work that is outside of the warranty.
The work may be done at any repair facility. Such
wo
rk does not need to be performed at a designated
station that is determined by the warranty in order for
the warranty to remain in force.

Emissions Warranty
The 1206E-E66TA is a nonroad compression ignition
engine.
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) and
Perkins Engines Company Limited are pleased to
explain th
e emission control system warranty on your
1206E-E66TA diesel engine.
In Califor
nia, new motor vehicle engines must be
designed, built, and equipped in order to meet
the state's stringent anti-smog standards. Perkins
Engines C
ompany Limited must warrant the emission
control system on your engine for the duration of time
listed below. Provided, there has not been any abuse,
neglect,
or improper maintenance of your engine or
your engine aftertreatment system.
Perkins
Engines Company Limited warrants to the
initial owner and to the subsequent owner of the
1206E-E66TA diesel engine that such an engine is:
1. Designed, built, and equipped so that the
engine conforms, at the time of sale, with all
applic
able regulations adopted by the California
Air Resources Board (CARB).
2. Free f
rom defects in materials and workmanship
in specifi c emission-related parts for the following
period:

The warranty period is for 3000 hours or for 5
years, whichever occurs first. After the date of
deli
very to the owner that operates the engine.
If an emission-related part fails during any of
the w
arranty periods, the part will be repaired
or replaced. Any such part repaired or replaced
under warranty is warranted for the remainder of
the
warranty period.
During the term of this warranty, Perkins Engines
Com
pany Limited will provide through a Perkins
distributor or your Perkins dealer or other
establishment authorized by Perkins Engines
Co
mpany Limited , repair or replacement of any
warranted part at no charge to the engine owner.
In
an emergency, repairs may be performed at
any service establishment, or by the owner, using
any replacement part. Perkins recommended that
e
mission-related parts be replaced with genuine
Perkins Engines Company Limited parts.
