Message Conventions
Common Order (ORC) Segment
The ORC segment in the ORU message transmits the monitor name.
Example:
This ORC segment contains the monitor name MONITORABC.

The following table describes each field in the ORC segment.
Observation Request (OBR) Segment
The OBR segment in the ORU message identifies the type of data being exported, the
date and time that the measurements occurred, and the ID of the person taking the
measurements. If the monitor is sending trend data, the data type in the OBR segment is
MONITOR. If the monitor is sending an alarm, the data type in the OBR segment is
ALARM.
Examples:
This OBR segment identifies the type of data as MONITOR. The measurements occurred
at 12:45:00 pm on May 10, 2014 and were collected by OPERATOR12.
