Message Conventions
Patient Identification (PID) Segment
The PID segment in the ORU message identifies the subject of the vital signs
measurements.
Example:
This PID segment identifies the patient as Mary A. Jones. Her medical record number is
MRN1234, her birth data is 1991/09/11.
