4 Making Measurements
Data acquisition and storage is fully controlled via the software. A live video
image of the object is displayed on the monitor and you can define scan
points directly on this live video image. You set all acquisition properties in the
software. For evaluation, the acquired data is overlaid directly onto recorded
video image. You can also export data to various software packages, e.g. for
modal analysis.
4.1 Starting the System
CAUTION!
Damage to the system caused by heat accumulation! Remove the covers of the system
cabinet before operating the instruments in the system cabinet.
NOTE!
When starting the software, select the measurement system:
-
Ethernet
for PSV-500-H
-
PCI-6110
for PSV-500-M
To make a measurement, proceed as follows:
Setup
1. Install and cable the system as described in
SECTION
3.4 and
SECTION
3.5.
2. Turn the key switch on the front of the front-end to position O and close
the beam shutter on the front of the scanning head.
3. Position the scanning head so that the laser beam aperture is roughly
aligned with the object. If possible, set up the scanning head at an optimal
stand-off distance to the object to be measured. You will find information
on optimal stand-off distances in
SECTION
4.3.
Switch on
4. Switch on the front-end by turning the key switch to position I.
The POWER L
ED
on the front of the front-end lights up. If all the
connecting cables are correctly installed, then the LASER L
ED
on the
scanning head lights up. Laser light may not be emitted yet as the beam
shutter is still closed.
5. Switch on all optional peripheral devices.
6. Switch on the PC.
NOTE!
After the PC has been switched on, at first all system components are initialized. This
initialization takes about 30 seconds. Not till then you can start the software.
