Environmental Requirements
The installation area for the SmartEdge 100 hardware must allow a minimum of 20.0 inches (50.8 cm) at
the front of the chassis (for maintenance and ventilation).
Because the cooling air exits at the rear of the chassis, this area must not be blocked; nor must exhaust air
from other equipment blow into the front of the SmartEdge 100 chassis.
Table 3-6 lists the environmental requirements for the installation site of the SmartEdge 100 hardware.
Physical Specifications
Table 3-7 lists the SmartEdge 100 physical specifications.
Caution Risk of equipment damage. Lack of proper cooling and ventilation can damage a SmartEdge
router. To reduce the risk, never install the chassis in an unventilated area, and always ensure
that cooling equipment sufficient to maintain a temperature of less than 104°F (40°C) is
available.
