7.2 Selection of the load power supply (PM)
Introduction
The load power supply (PM) feeds the input and output circuits (load circuits) as well as the
sensors and actuators.
Properties of the load power supply
The table below shows a comparison of the various load power supply units and their
properties:
Table 7- 2 Features of load power supply units
Necessary for ... Property of the load power supplies Note
• Modules that must be supplied with
voltages of ≤ 60 V DC or
≤ 250 V AC.
• 24 V DC load circuits
Safe electrical isolation The Siemens power supplies from the
PM 170W and SITOP series have this
feature.
• 24 V DC load circuits
• 48 V DC load circuits
• 60 V DC load circuits
Output voltage tolerances:
• 19.2 V to 28.8 V
• 38.4 V to 57.6 V
• 48 V to 72 V

) in the online catalog and/or in the online ordering
system.
Short-circuit detection
Modules detect a short-circuit at the output, when the rated output current is clearly
exceeded (approx. 2x to 3x the rated output current).
