2.3 Reactive power compensation
Capacitors for improving the power factor (reactive power compensation)
Do not connect any capacitors to the output terminals of the 3RW5 soft starter. If capacitors
are connected to the output terminals, the 3RW5 soft starter will be damaged.
Do not operate active filters, e.g. for reactive power compensation, parallel to the
3RW5 soft starter.
If you use capacitors to correct the power factor (actively or passively), you must connect
them on the line side of the 3RW5 soft starter. Make sure that the capacitors do not actively
control the power factor during the starting and coasting down phases. If you use a contactor
disconnector or main contactor together with the 3RW5 soft starter, the capacitors must be
disconnected from the 3RW5 soft starter when the contactor is open.
