4.3 Odours
Fault Possible cause Troubleshooting
Drawing oil from production still on the
drum.
► Wipe out the drum using a damp clothSmell of oil
Not a fault. ► Customer advice: evaporates quickly, no influence on the laundry
Chemical odour Detergent, fabric softener, scented cloths. ► Change detergent, fabric softener or scented cloths.
► If possible do without fabric softener and scented cloths.
► Wipe drum with a damp cloth.
Plastic odour / melted Fan wheel scraping on process air duct ? Install repair set [ 11003634]
► Replace scraping fan wheel (Page 56)
Charred smell Drum overloaded.
Foreign object(s) in the appliance.
Plugs/components scorched.
► Remove foreign object(s).
► Replace plugs/components.
Insufficient detergent dosage ► Adapt washing behaviour.
Washing at low temperatures <60 ° C ► Clean container tray and fluff sieve shaft with hot water.
Incorrect wash programme (e.g. short pro-
grammes)
► Adapt washing behaviour
► Rinse out bottom group with hot water (sensor test programme) If extreme, then
clean bottom group completely.
► Advise customer:
► Select a wash programme with increased temperature and washing powder more
frequently
Musty odour
Deposits in the water system caused
