Unnecessary index signais can be erased.
Notes
® Index signals marked on a portion of tape just before
or after the recording modes, SP and EP, are switched
cannot be erased.
Erasing Index Signals
i 1 Press INDEX once.
The INDEX and SCAN indicator blinks alternately.

2 Tum the DUAL MODE SHUTTLE ring clockwise or
counterclockwise to search for the index signal to be
erased.
The tape rewinds or rapidly advances.
Every time an index signal is detected, the tape plays back
and then rewinds or advances to the next index signal.

| 3 When you reach the index signal you wish to erase,
press INDEX ERASE within approximately 10 seconds
after you have verified the playback picture.
The INDEX indicator flashes.
While the index signal is being erased, the recorded sound
is not be heard, but it is not erased from the tape.
