14.4.3 Pump Diaphragm
– Remove the carburetor, b 14.2
: Take out the screw (arrow).
: Carefully remove the end
cover (1).
: Carefully remove the gasket with
pump diaphragm from the end
cover.

: Carefully separate the pump
diaphragm (1) and gasket (2).
The diaphragm material is
subjected to continuous alternating
stresses and eventually shows
signs of fatigue, i.e. the diaphragm
distorts and swells and has to be
replaced.
– Check the pump diaphragm for
signs of damage and wear. Install
a new gasket.
– Check fuel strainer for
contamination and damage.
Clean or replace if necessary.
: Use a needle to remove the fuel
strainer (1) from the carburetor
body.
– Reassemble in the reverse
sequence.

: Fit the gasket (1) so that the tab
(2) is opposite the idle speed
screw (3) and is held in position
by the pegs (arrows).
: Fit the diaphragm (1) on the
gasket so that the tab (2) is
opposite the idle speed screw (3)
and is held in position by the pegs
(arrows).
