  The thread might be cutting due to several reasons. Ensure the thread is properly inserted. Reinstall the needle, checking its height and direction. A damaged needle (bent, cracked, or with an abraded tip) can also cause this, so replace it if necessary. Adjust excessive upper and lower thread tension, as well as the take-up lever spring's tension and stroke. Finally, inspect the shuttle surface spring for cracks and replace if needed.
