5 e1600 Advanced Features
5.1 RTSP Streaming
The E1600 supports RTSP. This allows for the video from the encoder to be played using any video
player that supports RTSP (e.g. VLC Media Player).
You can use any video player that supports RTSP to play video from the encoder. However to
be able to view video from the Live option on the web interface (see 0) VLC Media Player must be
installed on your computer, ensuring that the ActiveX control is also installed (ActiveX checkbox
needs to be ticked during installation).
To open an RTSP stream to the unit type the following request into the client application:
rtsp://<unit ip address>:<RTSP port>/<chan>-<str>
where
The default port for RTSP is 554. But it can be changed via the web interface; see 0.
The chan is from 01 to 16 and str is from 01 to 02.
So if the IP address of the unit you want to access is say 192.168.167.93 and you want to watch
video channel 1 and stream 1, you need to type in
rtsp://192.168.167.93:554/01-01
