b. Connect the output of a Time-Mark Generator to the
CH 1 input connector via a 42-inch 50 !T2 BNC cable.
p. Adjust the INTENSITY control until the spot is just
extinguished.
c. Set the Time-Mark Generator for an output of 10
microsecond markers.
q. Erase the display, w ait at least 3 seconds, then push
the RESET button. Repeat this procedure while adjusting
the ENHANCE LEVEL control to obtain a stored display
where the background just starts to fade up.
d. A djust the TRIGGER LEVEL control fo r a stable
display.
e. Set the T IM E/D IV switch and the TIM E /D IV
Variable control for one marker per division.
r. CHECKCRT stored display for no breaks or gaps
exceeding 0.025 inch. Check the entire storage display area.
Proper storage of a 2.5 ps/division sweep indicates an
enhanced storage w riting speed of at least 400 centimeters
per millisecond.
f. Set CH 1 input coupling to GND.
g. Position the trace on screen w ith the beginning of the
trace at the le ft edge of the graticule.
s. Set the STORE buttons to Non-store (buttons out),
ENHANCE buttons to O ff (buttons out), Sweep MODE to
AUTO, TRIGGER SOURCE to CH 1, and INTENSITY
control fo r normal display intensity.
h. Set the Sweep MODE to SINGLE SWEEP, the
TRIGGER SOURCE to LINE, and both STORE buttons to
the STORE (button in) position.
13. Adjust Geometry
a. Set the CH 1 input coupling to DC.
i. Adjust the INTENSITY control until the spot is just
extinguished.
b. Apply 1 ms and .1 ms tim e marks from the Time-
Mark Generator to the CH 1 input connector.
j. Press both ERASE buttons, wait 10 seconds, and then
press the RESET button. A single sweep should be pre
sented and stored.
c. Adjust the CH 1 POSITION control and the CH 1
VO LTS/D IV switch so the time marks extend above and
below the vertical extremes of the CRT viewing area.
k. CHECKCRT stored display fo r no breaks or gaps
exceeding 0.025 inch. Check the entire storage display area.
Proper storage of a 10 ps/division sweep indicates a storage
w riting rate o f at least 100 centimeters per millisecond.
d. Adjust the TRIGGER LEVEL control for a stable
display w ith the T IM E /D IV switch set to 1 ms.
e. CHECKCRT display for no more than 0.1 division of
bowing or tilt of time marks in the center 6X10 division
area, and no more than 0.2 division of misalignment in the

SITY control, and set CH 1 input coupling to DC.
extreme upper and lower 1X10 division areas.
m. Set the Sweep MODE to AUTO, the STORE buttons
to Non-Store (button out), and TRIGGER SOURCE to CH
1.
f. ADJUSTGeometry adjustments R967 and R1292
(see Figs 5-5 and 5-6) for minimum bowing and tilt of time
marks. Normally, the optimum adjustment point of R1292
is for a voltage measurement of +230 volts at the em itter of
transistor Q1292 located on the Storage circuit board.
n. Set the TIM E /D IV switch and the T IM E/D IV
Variable control for one marker per four divisions.
g. Disconnect all test equipment.
14. Check BEAM FINDER Operation
o. Set the CH 1 input coupling to GND, Sweep MODE
to SIN G LE SWEEP, TRIGGER SOURCE to LINE,
TRIG G ER LEVEL to midrange, STORE buttons to
STORE (button in), and ENHANCE buttons On (buttons
in).
a. Press the BEAM FINDER button.
b. Rotate the CH 1 POSITION and horizontal POSI
