7.9.3 Cooling system - combined hydraulic
oil/water/charge air cooler
Coolant level
Only open the radiator cap when the
engine is cold. There is danger of
scalding when checking hot coolant!
Remove the cooler cap (59/1) and top up the
coolant. Read coolant level on viewing glass
(59/2). When the engine has cooled down, the
surge tank should be half full.
Refill with a 50%-50% mixture of water
and antifreeze.
Checking antifreeze
Before the beginning of the cold season, check the
level of antifreeze.
At the factory, the antifreeze protection is set to
approx. -25°C. If temperatures are lower, the
level of antifreeze must be increased
accordingly.
Cleaning cooling fins
Dirt accumulation in coolers causes the
engine and/or the hydraulic oil to
overheat.
The combined cooler is cleaned from the outlet
side (60) with compressed air.
If necessary, e.g. in case of an oiled cooler,
clean with cold cleaner or a steam jet device.
After cleaning, the engine must be brought to
operating temperature in order to dry the cooler.
