2. Wiring of PCS-DS51

How to use transceivers
Transceivers are used to connect an AUI cable and a 10BASE5 coaxial cable. Install the
transceivers isolated from the metal part of the cabinet. Be careful not to touch the metal part of
the cabinet with a screwdriver.
Treatment of the termination of 10BASE5 coaxial cable
Make sure to install a terminator to the transceiver of the station which is the termination of a
coaxial segment. When no terminator is installed, many transmission errors occur and
transmission fails. Be careful to keep the terminator from contact with any terminators or frame
chassis of other system.
Grounding
For the shield of a 10BASE5 coaxial cable, use the single point ground (Type 3 ground).
Normally, use a ground terminal. For a system where many noises occur due to drive control of
motors, wire a grounding trunk line along the coaxial cable, install a grounding terminal to each
coaxial cable, and ground it to the grounding trunk line.
Fixing cables
After wiring cables, fix them so that no force is exerted to the connector. Table 2.2 is the list of
allowable bending radii of cables when they are fixed or wired. Make sure that the bending
radius exceeds the value in this list.
