LIGHTS, WIPERS AND DEFOGGER
HEADLIGHTS
To turn on the following lights: Twist
the headlight/ turn signal lever knob.
Posit ion 1—Par king, tail, li cense pl ate and
inst rument panel light s
The t ail l ight indi cator li ghts up in the
inst rument clus ter.
Posit ion 2—Headl ights and all of the
above
Posit ion 3 (“AUTO”)—Headl ights and/ or al l
of the lights i n positi on 1
They automati cally t urn on or off depend-
ing on the dar kness of t he surr oundings.
Manually tw ist the knob to t he pos iti on 2
to t urn on the headlights if they are need-
ed immediat ely when enteri ng a dar k tun-
nel, park ing str uctur e, etc.
However, on some models , even wit h the
headlight sw itc h off al l the light s l ist ed
above (exc ept the inst rument panel light )
turn on when the engine i s st arted. In this
case, t he headlights are on low beam.
The automatic li ght contr ol sensor i s on
the top of the driver’s s ide i nstr ument
panel.
Do not pl ace any thing on t he i nstr ument
panel, and/ or do not affi x anyt hing on the
windshi eld to block thi s sensor.
Adjust t he headl ight beam l evel bef ore
turni ng on the headli ghts. ( See “Headlight
beam level cont rol” on page 181 in thi s
Secti on.)
