To hel p ensure s afety and dr iving perf or-
mance, downshift ing operat ion may some-
times be restricted. In some circum-
stanc es, downs hift ing may not be pos sible
even when the shif t lev er is oper ated.

Maximum allowable speeds
If the vehi cle speed exceeds the fol lowing
speeds in each gear step, the trans mis-
sion will aut omatic ally ups hift to prev ent
the engine from over −revving.
