Engine preheating indicator light
Normal star ting procedure
(diesel engine)
1. Turn the engine s witc h to the “ON”
posit ion and v erify t hat the engi ne pre-
heating indi cator light has c ome on.
Keep the engine swit ch i n t he “ON”
posit ion until the li ght goes off.
2. Wi th your f oot off the ac celer ator ped-
al, c rank the engine by turni ng the en-
gine swi tch to “START” pos ition. Re-
lease it when the engine st arts .
Engine should be war med up by driving,
not in idle. For warming up, drive with
smoothl y tur ning engine until engine cool-
ant temperatur e is withi n normal range.
If the engine stalls...
Simply restar t it, using t he corr ect proce-
dure given in normal st arti ng.
If the engine will not star t...

436 in Section 4.
NOTICE
z Do not crank f or mor e than 30 se-
conds at a time. This may overheat
the start er and wiring systems.
z Do not race a cold engine.
z If the engine becomes difficult to
start or stalls f requently, have the
engine checked immediately.
