When t he batter y is disconnected or
run down, the push button start function
memoriz es the c urrent mode. Af ter you
reconnec t, replac e, or rec harge the bat-
tery, the memori zed mode is selec ted au-
tomati cally. In any of thes e cases , tur n off
the engine if the engine comes on.
Wait 10 seconds to st art the engine aft er
the batter y has been r econnect ed. The
engine may not st art on t he fir st tr y. This
does not indic ate a malfunct ion.
NOTICE
z Do not race a cold engine.
z If the engine becomes difficult to
start or stalls f requently, have the
engine checked immediately.
TIPS FOR USI NG SMART ENTRY AND
START SYSTEM
When usi ng t he smar t entr y and s tart s ys-
tem, it is possi ble to s tart or s top the
engine as long as the key is on your
person.
For thi s reas on, it is poss ible that a pas-
senger may r emove t he key fr om the v e-
hicl e w ithout t he dr iver being aware of t he
fact . In s uch a cas e, it is not pos sibl e to
rest art the engi ne af ter having turned it
off. In additi on, i t is poss ible that one may
get out of t he vehi cle w ithout being aware
that the “ ENGINE START STOP” swit ch
has not been turned off completel y.
When driving or getti ng in or out of the
vehic le, driv ers s hould make sur e t hat
they are car ryi ng the key.
CAUTION
Do not touch the “ ENGINE START
STOP” switch while driving.
If you have to mak e an emergency st op,
press and hold t he “ ENGINE START
STOP” switch for mor e than 3 sec onds.
