Use mud shields on your wheels. If you
driv e on sal ted or gravel roads , mud
shiel ds help pr otect your v ehicl e. Full−size
shields , whic h come as near to the gr ound
as possibl e, are the best. We recommend
that t he fitt ings and the area wher e the
shields are installed be treated to resist
corr osion. Your aut horiz ed Toy ota dealer
or r epairer, or another duly quali fied and
equipped prof essi onal, will be happy to
assis t in supply ing and ins talling the
shiel ds if they are recommended f or y our
area.
Keep your vehicle i n a well venti lated
garage or a roofed place. Do not park
your vehicle in a damp, poorly venti-
lated gar age. If y ou wash your v ehicl e in
the garage, or i f you driv e it cover ed with
water or snow, your garage may be so
damp as to caus e cor rosi on. Even if your
garage is heated, a w et vehi cle c an cor-
rode if the vent ilati on is poor.
Washing your Toyota
Keep your vehicl e clean by r egular
washing.
NOTICE
The f ollowing cases may cause weak-
ness to t he paint or corr osion t o the
body and component s. (al uminum
wheels etc.) Wash your vehicle as
soon as possi ble.

z If you see coal tar or tr ee sap on
the paint surf ace
z If you see dead insects, i nsect
droppings or bird droppings on the
paint
z Aft er dr iving in an ar ea cont ami-
nated with soot, oily smoke, mine
dust, iron powder or chemi cal sub-
stances
z If the vehi cle becomes heavi ly
soiled in dust or mud
z If liquids such as benzene and
gasoline are spilled on the paint
surface
If the paint is chi pped or scr atched,
have it repaired immedi ately.
To prevent the wheels from corrodi ng,
remove any di rt and st ore in a place
with low humidity when storing the
wheels.
