ACTUATION AREA
The entry function and start function
are avail able to use when a r egistered
key is in the actuation area.
1. Entr y functi on actuation ar ea—About
1 m (3 ft.) from each front outside
door handle and back door handle.
If the key is clos e to a door handle,
a window, the c enter of t he r ear bump-
er, on the ground or above the roof,
the ent ry functi on may not operate
properl y.
2. Star t f unction actuati on area—Inside
of the cabin.
The s tart func tion may not be ac tiv ated
if the k ey is on t he ins trument panel ,
in the glov e box or on t he floor, etc.
3. Star t functi on actuati on area ( UK
only)—I nside of the cabi n.
When the back door is opened, the
star t func tion c an only be used i n ac-
tuati on area 3. When t he bac k door is
clos ed, t he st art func tion can be used
in actuat ion area 2.
CONDITIONS AFFECTING OPERATION
The smart entry and start system, wi re-
less remot e control and engine immobi-
liz er system may not operate nor mally
in the f ollowing sit uations. If this hap-
pens, use a mechanical key to lock or
unlock the doors. ( For detail s, see
“—Side doors” on page 60.) If you are
unable to use push button start func-
tion, see “ STARTING THE ENGINE
WHEN THE ELECTRONIC KEY DOES
NOT OPERATE PROPERLY” on page 52.
