Apply the screen protector
To keep the touchscreen clean and protected, apply the screen protector following the instructions
provided in the screen protector package.
Unprotected screens become scratched and scuffed over time. Screen protectors extend the life of
the display by providing a protective and replaceable barrier between abrasive grit and the surface
of the display.
It is recommended to replace the screen protector every 3 months, or more often if heavily used.
Screen damage associated with not using a screen protector, not using the approved screen
protector or failure to follow the instructions for installation may void the product warranty.
From January 2014, Ranger 3 models are equipped with a glass-glass touchscreen, replacing the
glass-PET (polyethylene) screen which was discontinued. The glass-glass touchscreen provides a
better display experience, especially in bright outdoor conditions.
New screen protectors (part number ACCAA-371)are designed for use with the glass-glass display
and are shipped with the new Ranger 3 models. Spares (in packs of 5)can be ordered as required.
The old screen protector (part number ACCAA-362) should not be used with glass-glass displays as it
creates a “rainbow” effect in bright sunlight, making the display difficult to read.
Glass-glass models can be identified by the brick code on the bottom left of the label, visible when
the battery is removed.
l Brick codes starting with 7 or 8 and ending in -02A (7xxxx-02A or 8xxxx-02A) are glass-glass
models
l Brick code starting with 9 (9xxxx-01A) are glass-glass models.
l Brick codes starting with 7 or 8 and ending in -01A (7xxxx-01A or 8xxxx-01A) are film-glass models
Where a film-glass screen has been replaced by a glass-glass screen under warranty repair, the
service provider will identify this with black dot after the brick code under the battery, as shown
below.
The glass-glass screen protector should not be used on glass-PET (film-glass) displays, as there is a
risk the adhesive could bond with the screen over time and damage the film-glass screen on
