The Azimuth/Elev. frame consists of two types of numerical values, M.
and P.
The numerical values in the M. field indicate the mechanical angles of
the RT20A Antenna Frame for azimuth and elevation directions. Both
readings are in degrees. The azimuth angle shows the antenna's
horizontal position relative to the chosen northern direction, and the
elevation angle shows the antenna's vertical position relative to the
alignment of the RT20A pole.
The numerical values in the P. field are offset angles of the electrical
tracking of the RT20A antenna for azimuth and elevation directions. The
readings show the offset between the directions of the received radio
signal and the antenna line of sight in horizontal and vertical planes. The
azimuth reading is the phase difference between the horizontal antenna
pair, and the elevation reading is the phase difference between the
vertical antenna pair.
The RT20A tracking is based on the phase offset values. The RT20A
periodically turns to the radiosonde’s direction to keep the values around
zero.
