Step 12: Tasks during Flight
When using radiosonde RS80-67, set the tuning mode from Track to
AFC in about 10 minutes from balloon release:
1. Select the Radio view.
2. Press the AFC key.
Now the sounding proceeds automatically and operator attendance is not
necessary.
Data Monitoring (Sounding Processor)
Data being collected during the ascent is now processed, see the bottom
of the screen. Raw PTU data can be obtained right from the start. See
DigiCORA User's Guide for information on how to access RAW PTU,
EDT, STD, WIND, and ANGLE Data Monitoring Modes.
The raw PTU data can also be monitored from the Hand Terminal
RTH21.
Sending Messages
Data being collected during the ascent is now being processed and can be
used for creating messages. Messages can be printed out or sent via
telecommunication lines during the sounding. See DigiCORA User’s
Guide for details.
Step 13: Ending the Sounding
There are two ways to end the sounding observations, automatic and
manual termination.
Automatic Termination
Sounding observations end automatically when the balloon bursts and the
program detects an increase in pressure as the radiosonde falls.
EDT calculation is finished, raw data is still received.
Click Next to stop the sounding.
