Removepaintbeforewelding/heating
Whenpaintisheatedviawelding,soldering,orother
torch-use,itcanresultinhazardousfumes;youshould
avoidsuchfumesanddust,asexposuremayresultin
seriousinjury.
Tominimisethisrisk,removepaintbeforeheating:
•
Removepaintaminimumof100millimetres
(four-inches)fromaroundtheareathatwillbeaffected
byheating.Ifyoucannotremovethispaint,ensureyou
wearanapprovedrespirator.
•
Whensandingorgrindingpaint,useanapproved
respiratortoavoidbreathingthedust.
•
Ifyouusesolventorpaintstripper,removethestripper
withsoapandwaterbeforewelding.Removesolventor
paintstrippercontainersandotherammablematerial
fromthearea.
•
Ensureyouallowanyfumestodisperseatleast15
minutesbeforewelding/heating.

DONOTuseachlorinatedsolventinareaswhereyou
willbewelding.
Ensureyouonlycarryoutthistypeofworkinwell-vetilated
areas,tocarrytoxicfumesanddustaway.
Ensureyoudisposeofpaintandsolventproperly.
Makingweldingrepairs
IMPORTANT:Beforewelding,ensureyoudisable
theelectricalpower;separateallharness
connectorsbetweentheengineandthe
machine’smicroprocessors.Whentheignition
isinthe“OFF”position,themainbattery
powerisautomaticallyoff.
Ifyouweldorheatnearpressuriseduidlines,itmay
produceammablespray,whichmay,inturn,resultin
severeburns.Forthisreason,DONOTletanyheatgo
beyondtheworkareatopressurisedlinesthatmaybe
nearby.
Whenwelding,keepthegroundclampasclosetothe
weldedareaaspossible;thiswillreducetheriskofthe
weldingcurrenttravellingthroughtheelectricalsystem.

Removeallpaintproperly,beforewelding.
•
Donotinhaleanypaintdustand/orfumes.
•
Useaqualiedweldingtechnicianwhenmakingany
structuralrepairs.
•
Carryouttheprocedureinawell-ventilatedarea.
•
Usethecorrectprotectiveequipmentandapparel(for
example,eyeprotection).
