Ifyouarefellingtreesonahillside,itmaymeanthecutting
unitisexposedtodirt/duffontheuphillsideofthetree(s).
Ensuretheheadispositionedcorrectly(5),sothetipof
thesawbardoesnot‘foul’thegroundonthehighsideof
thetree.
Unattendedfellinghead
IMPORTANT:Ifyoulaythefellingheadandlink
mechanisminsuchawaythattherotator
comesintocontactwiththehead,youmay
seriouslydamagetherotatormotor.
Ifyouleavethefellingheadunattended,leaveitinthe
uprightortilt-upposition,sothatitpointsawayfromthe
operators’cabwiththeboomstretchedrightout.

Main-sawprocess
Beforeusingthemain-saw,youshouldkeepinmind:
1.Howeasilyyoucanviewthesawbar.
2.Whenthesawchainisactivated,theheadwillfallover.
3.Howtheboomhydraulicsandthecabareprotected.
4.Howthetreeispositionedforextraction.
5.Whencutting,pushthetreeintherequireddirection
whileavoidingupwardpressure.
6.Asthesawunitcompletesacut,thespeedofthesaw
motorwillincrease,andbarkchipsmaybevisible.
7.Thesawwillreturnautomaticallyonceyoucompletea
cutandstopactivatingthesawbutton.
8.Youcanjamthesawduringfelling.Inthisinstance,
stoptheactivationofthesawandslowlyliftthehead.
Astheweightofthetreewillpressurisetheoilinthe
carrier’sliftrams,theliftingdistanceshouldnotbe
great.
9.Checkthe“sawhome”indicatedtoensurethatsaw
hasreturnedbeforemovingthetreetoofar.
10.Ensurethelogisclampedbeforethesawchainis
activated.Alooselogmaymoveafterthesawchain
beginsthecut,whichmayderailthechainorstop
itfromcutting.
11.Asidetearalongatreemaypreventthesawchain
fromreturningifitisnotcutonthedownwardpass;
youshouldmakethecutpastthistear.
12.Youcanavoid‘logsplit’bysupportingthelogduring
cutting.
13.Asthesawchaincompletesacut,youmayneedto
engageasmallamountofupwardliftinordertokeep
thecutopenandtoavoidchainstall.
14.Whencompletingacut,takecaretoensuretheend
ofthesawbardoesnotcutintotheground.Thesaw
chainmaycutintoanotherlogreducingthevalueof
thatlogor,ifthefellingheadismoving,damagingthe
sawbarand/orsawchain.
