Apathofstemsapproximatelyfourmetres(12-feet)wide
isfelledtoprovidethefellingheadandtheforwarder
access.Stemsonbothsidesofthepatharefelled,and
arestackedoneitherside,readyforharvesting,before
beingliftedbytheforwarderforextraction.
Youcanfelltreesconsecutivelyontherightandleft;this
reducestheamountofcarriermovement,andensuresthe
stacksarepositionedtofacilitatestem-lifting.

Similartotheprocedureoutlinedabove,thisapproachis
usedinconjunctionwithskiddingextraction.
Whilethepathisfelledinthesamemanner,withthesame
spacing,becauseofthelongerlengthsbeinghandled,
youneedtotakegreatercareinpositioningstemsfor
extraction.
Inaddition,youshouldtakecaretoensurestemsare
felledtopreventminimalbarkdamageduringextraction.
