Walkaroundthecarrier,andcheckthereisnoevidence
ofdamageand/orexcessivewearonorinthemachine
guards,shields,andhydraulichoses.Youshouldalso
checktoensurethesecomponentsarecorrectlyinstalled.
Ifyouobservethatawarninglabelismissingordamaged,
youshouldreplaceitimmediately.

OperatorProtectiveStructures(OPS)
Duetovariationsinregionalrequirements,machine
congurations,andharvester/fellingheadtype,
forestry-relatedoperatorprotectionisacomplextopic.
Themachine’soperator,supervisor,orownermustalways
checkthecabofthecarriertoensureitisequippedwith
OPS;heorshemustalsoensuretheOPSisnotvisibly
damagedwhenworkinginthewoods.
Thecarrieroperator,owner,orsupervisormustalsocheck
andcomplywiththelocaland/orregionalforestry-related
OPSrequirements.Whilesomeregionshaveadditional
requirements,itisrecommendedyourefertoISO
8082Forestry–OperatorProtectiveStructures(OPS)
forspecic,internationally-recognised,performance
requirements.
Driving
Whenyouaredrivingthecarrier,youshouldensureyou:

Areawareofyoursurroundingsatalltimes.
•
Consistentlymaintaingoodvisibilitybyreducingyour
speed,usingproperlighting,andmaintainingclean
windows.
•
Arealwaysawareofthewinddirectionandspeed.
•
Havesecurelyplacedthefellingheadinthetravel
positionbeforedriving.
•
UsetheOperators’Manualprovidedbythecarrier
manufacturertolearnaboutoperationofthecarrier.
