Reverse gear
1. Measure:
● Reverse gear backlash
Out of specification → Adjust.
Reverse gear backlash:
0.93 ~ 1.65 mm (0.037 ~ 0.065 in)
Measuring steps:
● Set the shift shaft in the reverse posi-
tion.
● Load the reverse gear by installing the
propeller without the collar 1 and
then tighten the propeller nut.

Propeller nut:
5 Nm (0.5 m • kg, 3.6 ft • lb)
● Attach the backlash indicator onto the
drive shaft (16 mm diameter).
Backlash indicator 2:
YB-06265/90890-06706
● Attach the dial gauge onto the lower
unit and have the dial gauge plunger
contact the mark on the backlash indi-
cator.
