5 Taking out of operation at short notice
5.1 Possible emergency repairs
Danger of fire and explosion due to lubricating oil leaks
Leaking oil may ignite on hot surfaces. This can cause severe personal
injury or fatal accidents can result.
Cordon off danger area.
Sound an alarm and depending on the situation, stop the engine.
Seal oil leaks.
Soak up oil and dispose of in an environmentally compatible manner.
Wear safety gloves against thermal risks.
Directives for taking out of operation
Serious damage to engine or property can be caused by non-compliance
with the directives for blanking off the low-pressure or high-pressure stage
on the engine.
Follow the directives of the enginebuilder.
If damage has occurred to the low-pressure stage and the engine has to be brought back into
operation again as quickly as possible, the following emergency repair option is available:
