This chapter gives a short description of the PVS980-MWS megawatt station.
Product overview
The PVS980-MWS megawatt station includes the equipment needed for the connection of
a solar power generator to the medium voltage power grid. The station is into a steel
structure that can be transported to a site as a sea container.
The main components of the megawatt station:
• Two inverters which invert the direct current (DC) and voltage from the solar generator
into alternating current (AC) and voltage for the power grid. The inverters also control
the power flow, and monitor and protect the power generator.
• A transformer which transforms the low voltage from the inverters into a medium
voltage for the power grid.
• Switchgear which is the connection point to the power grid. It is also the main
protection, switching, breaking and disconnecting equipment on the medium-voltage
side of the solar power plant.
• The AC cabinet is the auxiliary cabinet, for the electrical and communication
distribution for supply services of the megawatt station.
