4 General Maintenance
To remove/reinstall the heater and sensor for the mass filter
Materials needed
Gloves, clean, lint-free
Large (8650-0030)
Small (8650-0029)
Hex ball driver, 1.5 mm (8710-1570)
Hex ball driver, 2.0 mm (8710-1804)
Removal
1 Vent the MS. See the Agilent 7000 Series Triple Quad GC/MS Operation
Manual.
2 Open the front or rear analyzer chamber.
3 Disconnect the mass filter heater and temperature sensor wires from the
feedthrough board.
4 Remove the mass filter heater assembly from the mass filter radiator by
removing the two screws. See Figure 14 for the front mass filter. The rear
mass filter heater/sensor removal is similar.
WARNING
The analyzers, GC/MS interface, and other components in the analyzer chamber
operate at very high temperatures. Do not touch any part until you are sure it is cool.
CAUTION
Always wear clean gloves to prevent contamination when working in the analyzer
chamber.
CAUTION
Make sure you use an antistatic wrist strap and take other antistatic precautions
before touching analyzer components.
CAUTION
When disconnecting leads, pull on the connectors, not on the wires.
