3 CI Troubleshooting
Peak widths are unstable
Wrong or corrupted tune file
Check the tune parameters.
The CI ion source is dirty.
Clean the ion source. See Chapter 5, “CI Maintenance” on page 123 for more
information.
Air leak
Run Methane Pretune (in PCI). A visible peak at m/z 32 indicates air in the
system. Check for and correct any leaks. See “Air Leaks” on page 54. After
eliminating all air leaks, clean the ion source.
