Event Logs
Event logs are the means of recording-system generated events for later analysis. Events are
messages generated by the system by applications or processes within the 7705 SAR.
Figure 3 depicts a functional block diagram of event logging.
Event Sources
In Figure 3, the event sources are the main categories of events that feed the log manager.
Security — The security event source is all events that affect attempts to breach
system security, such as failed login attempts, attempts to access MIB tables to
which the user is not granted access, or attempts to enter a branch of the CLI to
which access has not been granted. Security events are generated by the SECURITY
application.
