3.6.30. How to replace air lter elements
The proper maintenance of air lter and of the entire inlet piping, the rubber parts in particular, will ensure maximal protection of the
engine against dust eects, and prolong the life of the element and its eciency.
The inherent sign of fouled lter is the exhaust pipe that smokes, higher fuel consumption, output loss and engine temperature in-
creased.
Principles of correct lter element replacement:
Slowly pull out the clogged element as carefully as possible.•
Always clean the inner bodies of the cleaner in a way to avoid dust penetrating inside the engine feed piping.•
Clean the seating faces for gasket in the cleaner body.•
Examine the dust traces in the element removed, any traces would be an indication of its leakage in the lter body.•
Press the gasket on the new element, whether it is exible.•
Make sure the gasket is seated properly.•
How to replace air lter element:
The air lter comprises the main element and safety ele-•
ment.
Replace the main element always when signalled by indica-•
tor lamp for air lter fouled.
Replace the safety element always following the three re-•
placements of the main element.
Conrm the xing and integrity of the air lter and intake •
piping.
Saturation of the air lter element will be signalled by the •
indicator lamp for air lter fouled.
When the indicator lamp goes on you must replace the main •
lter element.
Remove lter cap (1) and replace the main lter element (2) •
from the lter shell.
NEVER use damaged elements!
Do NOT use other elements than those required!
Do NOT remove the elements just for checking purposes!
Do NOT left the lter opened longer than necessarily required!
NEVER operate the Machine with lter body damaged!
