NC4000 1 GHz Node
TM 87-10923 Rev E
Fiber Deep Architecture
Fiber deep architecture is a specific implementation of the hybrid fiber
coax (HFC) architecture. Fiber is extended deep into the network, typically to the Fiber Deep node,
the last active device (node + 0). Final RF distribution to subscribers is through a passive coaxial
network. This category can also include node + 1 where a single RF amplifier is deployed to extend
the coverage of the RF distribution network.

Dimensions
The NC4000 Node is packaged in an aluminum housing that protects the electronics from weather and
dissipates internally generated heat (Figure 2.2). The housing is divided into two
halves, the housing
base and housing lid. The overall weight of the node is approximately 37.5
pounds (17 kg). The
actual weight depends on the number and type of plug-in modules in the node.
