Installing NC4000 Nodes 4-23
3.
Using a CATV Signal Level Meter, measure the RF signal at the applicable test point on the
lid motherboard. The levels (depending on segmentation) should be as specified in
Table 4.9.

Note 1: The RS4000 return module is normally supplied with the OA4324HG RF amplifier. For
alternatives, please contact ARRIS sales or field services.
Note 2: Suggested pad values are for pads on the RF amplifier tray. Some installations may require
different pad values. Consult ARRIS field services if you have any questions.
Note 3: Inject a +32 dBmV (6 MHz bandwidth) test signal to verify return RF path performance.
Note 4: The –12 dBmV signal measured at the applicable –20 dB test point on the lid motherboard
is equivalent to +8 dBmV into the DT4xxx return path transceiver.
4.8.4
Return Path Transceiver Output Verification
This procedure verifies the optical output from the transceiver(s). Leave the portable RF signal
generator connected until Step 5.
1.
Clean the connector and reconnect the downstream fiber optic cable to the Rx port on the
transceiver.
2.
Verify that the transceiver ON LED is lit.
3.
Use an optical power meter (with the appropriate jumper) to verify the output at the Tx
port on the transceiver. Outputs depends on the specific plug-in optical transceiver(s)
installed (Table 2.3 on page 2-11).
4.
Clean the connector and reconnect the return fiber optic cable to the Tx port.
5.
Disconnect all test equipment.
This concludes the NC4000 installation. Perform all final checks and close the housing per

4.9
Closing the NC4000 Housing
The final step is to close the node.
1.
Before closing the NC4000:
a.
Check the LEDs on all plug-in modules (receivers and transceivers) to verify that they
are on.
b.
Check all fiber optic cables to verify that they are connected to the appropriate
plug-in module ports. Rotate the fiber tray to the closed position.
c.
Check all RF cables between the lid motherboard and the RF amplifier tray to verify
that they are connected correctly for this node configuration.
