Power Supplies
The NC4000 can be powered from one or two power supplies (Figure 2.7). One power supply
provides sufficient DC power to run the RF amplifier and plug-in modules. Two power supplies
provide redundancy if one power supply fails. The power supply requires 44 to 95 VAC input, and
provides +3.3, +5, +12, and +24 VDC outputs. See 3.2 Power Supply Installation on page 3-3 for
power supply installation procedures.
2.3.4
Forward Path Receivers
Forward path receivers convert incoming optical signals (from the headend or hub) to RF signals
that are sent to the node RF amplifier tray. Figure 2.8 shows an AR4x14G forward path receiver.
NC4000 nodes normally require one forward path receiver. (Two forward path receivers are
required to implement forward RF path switching, as described in
3.4.1 Automatic Forward Path RF
Switching
on page 3-8.) For AR4x14 and AR4x24 receivers, the OPT. ALARM LED is
normally
green, but switches to flashing green or red if the optical input is outside operating range. Table 2.1
lists the forward path receivers currently available for the NC4000 node.
See
3.4 Forward Path Configuration
on page 3-7 for forward path receiver installation procedures.
AR4x14G and AR4x24G forward path receivers are further described in
TN-13-005 AR4x14G Forward
Analog Receiver Installation and Setup and TN-13-006 AR4x24G Forward Analog Receiver Installation
and Setup.
