tion longer, the wipers switch from slow w iping
to fast wiping .
® - clean the windsh ield To elim inate water
droplets, the windsh ield wiper performs one af-
terwipe after several seconds in temperatures
above 39 °F (4 °C). You can switch this funct ion
off by moving the lever to position ® w it hin 10
seconds after the afterwipe . The afterwipe func-
tion is react ivated the next ti me you switch the
ignit ion on.
Cleaning the headlights* . The headlight washer
system* on ly functions when the lights are
switched on. The headl ights are automat ically
cleaned the first t ime and every fifth time the
lever is moved to position ® ·
A WARNING
- The rain sensor* is on ly intended to assist
the driver. The driver is still responsible for
manua lly switching the wipers on according
to the visibility conditions.
- The windshield may not be treated with wa-
ter-repell ing windsh ield coating agents. Un-
favorable conditions, such as wetness, dark-
ness, and when the sun is low, can cause in-
creased glare which increases the risk of an
accident. W iper blade chatter is also possi-
ble.
- Properly f unction ing windsh ield wiper
blades are required for a clear view and safe

- In the case of frost, check whethe r t he
windsh ield wiper blades are froze n to the
windsh ield. Switching on t he winds hield
wipers can damage the wiper blades!
- Prior t o using a car wash, t he win dshield
wiper system m ust be switched off (lever in

position 0). This prevents unintentiona l
switching on and damage to the windshie ld
wiper system.
(D Tips
- The windshie ld wipers switch off when the
ignition is turned off. Activate the wind-
shield wipers after the ignition is switched
back on by moving the windshield wiper lev-
er to any position.
- Worn or dirty windshield wiper blades result
in streaking. This can affect the rain sensor*
function. Check your w indshield wiper
blades regularly .
- The washer fluid nozzles in the windsh ield
washer system are heated* at low tempera-
tures when the ignition is on.
- When stopping temporar ily, such as at a
traffic light, the speed of the windshield
wipers automatically reduces by one level.
Cleaning windshield wiper blades
Clean the wiper blades when you see w iper
streaks. Clean the wiper blades with a soft towel
and glass cleaner.
