Your ve hicle is not equipped with a crash data re-
corde r. Th is device is insta lled by some vehicle
manufac t ure rs to record data abou t crashes so
that it can be analyzed lat er. Cras h dat a record -
ers are also called "Event Data Recorders (EDR)".
In some legal jurisdict ions, it is no t pe rmitted to
access or download da t a recorded by pre- inst al-
led crash data recorders in o rder to eval uate a
crash witho ut clear consent of the vehicle owner.
Your vehicle is not equipped with a crash data re-
corde r. Howeve r it does co nt ain a va riety of elec-
tron ic control mo dul es for vario us veh icle sys-
tems such as engine function, exhaust treatment
or airbags and safety belts.
These elec t ronic con t rol modules record vehicle
data during no rmal driving for d iagnosis an d re-
pair purposes. The reco rding capabi lity of the
e lectronic contro l mod ules is limited to data on ly
• no sound is recorded. If the control module de·
tects a system malfunction or other change in
status, a very limited amo unt of data is recorded
for a n ext remely small period of time . Data that
is recorded in such a case may include veh icle
speed , d riving d irecti on, the load on t he brakes
a nd head res t ra ints and performance in the eve nt
of an acciden t or ot her cha nge in st at us. The
st ored data can on ly be read or downloaded with
specia l devices.
