Wiper service position/ blade replacement
posit ion
• To bring the wipers into the service position,
turn the ignition off and move the windshield
wiper lever into position @ ¢
page 43 , fig. 42.
• To bring the w ipers into the starting posit ion,
turn the ignit ion on and move the windshield
wiper lever into position @ for at least two sec-
onds ¢
page 43, fig. 42 .
Removing the wiper blade
• Fold the w indshield wiper arm away from the
windshield .
• Press the locking knob
(D ¢ fig. 43 on the w iper
blade . Hold the w iper blade f irmly.
• Remove the wipe r blade in the direct ion of the
arrow.
Install ing the wiper blade
• I nsert the new wiper blade into the mount on
the wiper arm @ unt il you hear it latch into
place.
• Place the wiper arm back on the windshie ld.
• Turn the service position off.
& WARNING
-
For safety reasons, the windsh ield wiper
blades should be replaced once or tw ice each
year.
(D Note
- The w indshield wipe r blades must on ly be
fo lded away when in the service position!
Otherwise, you risk damaging t he paint on
the hood or the windshie ld wiper motor.
- You should not dr ive your vehicle or press
t he windshie ld w iper lever when the wiper
arms are fo lded away from the w indshield.
The windshield wipers would move back in-
to t heir orig inal position and could damage
t he hood and windshield .
@ Tips
- You can also use the service position, for ex-
ample , if you want to protect the winds hield
from icing by using a cover .
Lights and V ision
- You cannot activate t he service posit ion
w hen the hood is open.
Digital compass
Switching the compass on and off

• To turn the compass on or off , press t he button
(D unt il the compass display in the mirror turns
on or off .
The dig ita l compass only works when t he ignit ion
is tur ned on. The directions are indicated with ab-
breviat ions:
N (north), NE (northeast), E (east),
SE (sout heast), S (south), SW (southwes t ), W
(west), NW (northwest) .
{D Tips
To prevent inaccurate compass readings, do
not br ing any remote controls, elect rical devi-
ces or metallic objects near t he mirror.
